7 year old Anusha Choubina, wrote the best review for the book written by Jill Murphy
Jill Murphy is an English author and illustrator of children’s books. She is best known for “The Worst Witch” novels and the “Large Family” picture books. She has been called “one of the most engaging writers and illustrators for children in the land”. Murphy showed an interest in writing and drawing at the age of 6, now she is 63. A review of her book by a young British South Indian has been chosen as the Best by the Harrow libraries.
During the Easter Holidays, Harrow libraries, UK conducted ‘Favourite Book’ competetion. This competetion was held across the Harrow Council. The children were asked to choose their favourite book and either do an illustration or write a review or design book cover. All kids were grouped according to their ages.
Anusha Choubina, 7 won the best review on ‘The Worst Witch’ (by Jill Murphy)6-8 years category
Prabha Choubina, is from South India, is the Editorial Assistant at Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health (www.acamh.org.uk) and also the editor at www.connectmums.com. Her daughter 7 year old Anusha Choubina took part in the 6-8 years category. The children had the choice of either doing an illustration of their favourite character from their favourite book or write a review. Anusha wrote a review of the book ‘The Worst Witch’ (by Jill Murphy). Obviously she was chosen as the best in her category.
Right now we could not confirm the number of participants in the competition, it seemed that there were kids from other libraries as well. The winning entries are displayed in their respective libraries and the awards evening will be held in the local library on 4th June 2013(Tomorrow).
As Anusha loves reading books so much, her mum has a started a book club for children!
