Pattathu Yaanai Tamil Movie Review by Common Man Sathish Kumar
From the trailers, everyone will come to know that Santhanam plays a major role in the movie as Vishal does the role of his servant. Movie is directed by Bhoopathy Pandian who directed movies such as Devathayai Kandaen, Thiruvilayadal Arambam with Dhanush and Malaikottai with Vishal. He was also the dialogue writer for one of the best comedy movie in Tamil Cinema – Winner. Aishwarya, Daughter of Action King “Arjun” makes her debut. Movie had created decent expectation as Santhanam plays dual role and acting in Bhoopathy Pandian movie for the first time. Let us see whether the movie will satisfy Common Man in this review.
Story: It is as old as our age. Hero saves the Heroine from the Villains with Intro Song, 3 duet songs, 3 fight scenes and separate comedy track.
Vishal – He had to be appreciated for acting in this movie which gives more importance to Santhanam and he almost plays the supporting actor role in the first half. He had lots of confidence in the movie and secured the theatrical rights of the film for Chennai area and entire Telugu version (titled Dheerudu). He has to wait for MGR movie release to give a much needed HIT in his career.
Santhanam – He gets paid on daily basis and he may be receiving much more salary than the leading heroes in Tamil Cinema. He completely deserves it as his movies gets much bigger opening than some of the leading heroes. Santhanam occupies the screen from 1st scene to 45 minutes in the first half. But, unfortunately comedy had not worked out much. He goes completely missing in the second half and finishes the movie with some good comedy timings in the climax.
Aishwarya Arjun – She plays the roles of 12th Class student. She makes an ordinary debut through this movie.
Pattathu Yaanai Tamil Movie Review
Music Director is Thaman (Boys movie fame). He has given wonderful songs in his earlier movies such as Moscowin Kaveri, Eeeram, Mundhinam Paartheyney, etc. But, he too has done movies in which songs were very average. Pattathu Yaani joins the latter list.
Director Bhoopathy Pandian’s last movie “Kadhal Solla Vandhen” got released in 2010 and didn’t do well at the box office. His other 3 movies have been good entertainer. Hence, it is a comeback movie for him and he couldn’t deliver it with this movie. He has believed on Santhanam’s Comedy and actions scenes which are similar to Vishal’s earlier movies.
