The Rajini Effect’-Rajnikanth film wins German film festival award

“The Rajini Effect”, a film produced by the UK based Barking Mad Productions, won the “Audience Award” at the prestigious “Stuttgart Indian Film Festival”. The project was inspired by South Indian superstar Rajinikanth.

‘The Rajini Effect’ is a hilarious film about a young British-Japanese man , TAIHO,who dreams of emulating his favourite Tamil film star. With his 50 year old budding film maker/accountant friend RAMU, they decide to enter an Indian short film competition looking for “Tomorrow’s superstar”.

The film is directed by the London Tamil brothers Nelson and Kuvera Sivalingam starring Jonathan Truong, Ramesh Vethanayagam, Mandeesh Gill, Paul Dudley & Akiko Motomura. Several popular Tamil actors have made special appearances in the movie.

The quirky comedy also has cinematography by Krsna Naganpillai, music by Charles Bosco, and will be screened with a number of films from India and beyond, including the Aamir Khan starrer “Talash” and Akshay Kumar starrer ‘ special 26’.

This movie has won an award with no cast, no money and very little time. ‘Kanth’ means Magnet; No wonder, anything that’s related to our superstar Rajini Kanth is sure to attract audience like a magnet.
