Tihar Jail authorities deny Sreesanth’s family’s claim of attack

Tainted Cricketer S.Sreesanth’s family recenty claim of the player being attacked with knife in Tihar Jail have been denied by Tihar Jail authorities, calling it as a “False claim”.

The Jail authorities said that the 32 year old pace bowler’s family is trying to get courts sympathy.

“This is totally untrue,” Sunil Gupta, the law officer of Tihar Jail, said over telephone from New Delhi.

“The bowler never complained about this, nor did he bring it to our knowledge,” he added.

“Perhaps Sreesanth’s family is trying to get court sympathy.”

“Sreesanth’s trial has now been completed in a court in Delhi. The verdict is expected to be pronounced early this month.
The family is trying to influence the judge by releasing this kind of story.

“A true judge will never be influenced with this kind of statement,” Gupta opined.

Sreesanth was attacked with a knife while he was in jail after being arrested for his alleged involvement in IPL spot-fixing in 2013, his brother-in-law and notable singer Madhu Balakrishnan said.
