Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam Tamil Movie Review by Sathish Kumar – Common Man
Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam (VVS) Tamil Movie Review by Sathish Kumar – Common Man
VVS – Movie had created good expectation as Sivakarthikeyan, who is giving hits with average movies, had paired along with Sathyaraj. Rajesh, who has given movies such as OKOK, SMS, BOSS had penned the dialogues for this movie. Director of the movie was former associate of Rajesh and hence, people are expecting this one to be a laugh riot. Movie was scheduled to be released along with MGR, but due to financial issues, MGR got postponed. Hence, VVS is the only movie which got released today with more than 350 screens in Tamil Nadu. It is the biggest release for Sivakarthikeyan. Let us see whether Director Ponram manages to give us yet another Comedy Hit for Tamil Cinema in this review.
Sivakarthikeyan & Vijay Sethupathi are the only actors in Tamil Cinema who are giving consecutive hits. Sivakarthikeyan proved that he can act too in his last movie “Ethir Neechal”. He has improved on his dancing skills too in this movie. He looks like a complete actor now. But, he speaks dialogue without any gap in this movie which may entertain few and irritate the rest.
Sathyaraj – It is nice to see him doing good character-oriented roles now. First 15 minutes & last 15 minutes completely belong to Sathyaraj. Story of the movie too happens only in these 30 minutes. Rest 2 hours are comedy scenes between Siva Karthikeyan & Soori which can be inserted even in KBKR & Viceversa. Comedy Scenes in the movie were quite good, but it doesn’t impact the story of the movie at any point. His acting in the climax scene proves that he is a legendary actor.
Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam Tamil Movie
Sri Divya makes her debut in Tamil Cinema with VVS. She looks young and completely fit the role of school girl. She doesn’t look like a debutant and acted well in this movie.
Soori joins hands with Sivakarthikeyan yet again after KBKR. If Santhanam is saviour for City based movies, then it is Soori for Village based movies. His one-liners & dialogue delivery timing were as good as Santhanam’s comedy timing. He carries the whole movies on his own shoulders & saves it with the help of Sathyaraj.
Imman composes music for Sivakarthikeyan for second time after Manam Kothi Paravai. He was the major reason for the success of MKP and has given wonderful songs in this movie too. All the songs in the movie were good.
Cinematographer Balasubramaniam was quite good. Village looks colourful throughout the movie.
Editing by Vivek was technically good. But, the movie running time of 160 minutes will test the patience of the audience in the second half. None of the scenes are related or impacts the story; hence, it would have been better if he has reduced the movie length by another 15 – 20 minutes.
Director Ponram has followed his Guru’s path and had tried to give a story-less comedy movie. He has actually done it by giving a movie without much boring scenes. Last 15 – 20 minutes of the movie was really too good. Director Rajesh’s dialogues adds value to the movie.
In 90’s, there used to be separate comedy tracks for Senthil and Goundamani which will never impact the story of the movie for 30 minutes. In 2013, there are separate comedy tracks in the movie for 2 hours which doesn’t impact the 15 minutes story of the movie.
Overall, VVS is yet another average comedy movie with engaging hilarious climax. People who liked KBKR will like this one as it is almost KBKR Part 2.
Rating of this movie by Common Man – 2.75 / 5
