Vishu Celebrated by Birmingham Hindu Malayalees BHIMA

BHIMA also known as Birmingham Hindu Malayalees celebrated this year’s Vishu at Northfield,Birmingham on 15th April.

The day started with a wonderful Vishu Kani followed by Vishu Kaineetam for all the kids in the group. As usual BHMA also had a small prayer to keep up with the tradition. This was followed by a sumptuous lunch which was enjoyed by everyone.

The highlight of the day was “Akshara Sloka Saddase” in which slokas were recited by children under 9 years. It was an audacious attempt to make the children aware of the objectives and essence of BHIMA.

BHIMA also had few cute performances from the tiny tots with a prayer and folk dance.

There was a family Quiz competition in which all the members participated with lots of fun and vigour which included topics like Hindu Mythology and Current Affairs.

To sum up the evening BHIMA had a surprise event to bring out hidden talent among the members in the field of acting. A topic was given to the group and it was interesting to see people perform for the first time.

This was followed by a general body meeting to discuss future activities and agenda for this year ahead.

For a change this year’s Vishu celebration was concentrated on bringing the young children to the limelight and give them more opportunities to understand the Hindu culture and traditions.
