Dhanush to make Hollywood debut in ‘Extraordinary Journey of The Fakir ‘

South Indian star, Dhanush is all ‘excited’ as he is to try his hand at International filmmaking, yes, Hollywood cinema. Dhanush will be working with Iran-born French comic book writer and filmmaker Marjane Satrapi in her upcoming film, ‘The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir Who Got Trapped in the Ikea Cupboard’.

Dhanush is all set to make his debut in Hollywood like Om Puri, Irrfan Khan, Anil Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra. ”

Apart from them, the film, which will be shot in Paris, Rome, Jodhpur and Casablanca, will also feature Alexandra Daddario, Barkhad Abdi and Laurent Lafitte.


Satrapi’s comedy adventure is based on Romain Puertolas’ bestselling debut novel which was published in 2014 and subsequently translated into 35 languages. The story is about the trip of a con man from India to an Ikea store in Paris that turns into a philosophical odyssey.

Dhanush, who is currently working on two Tamil films — Kodi and Vada Chennai — will be sharing screen space with Uma Thurman. The Extraordinary Journey of The Fakir”, directed by Iranian-French director Marjane Satrapi, will also see “Bandit Queen” actress Seema Biswas.

Dhanush is a popular actor in India, and he has worked in both Bollywood and the southern film industry. His last Hindi release was “Shamitabh” in which he starred with Indian cinematic icon Amitabh Bachchan.

Dhanush said in a statement: “I am very excited by this opportunity to work in a full-length Hollywood film for the first time. The directo, Marjane Satrapi, felt I would be apt for this role. I feel there are many facets I can explore for this character.”
